My only complaint is that the keyboard is missing F11 and F12 function keys, as well as a "delete" key. This became a problem when I put my browser in fullscreen mode and needed to use F11 to go back to regular mode but couldn't. Also, to get to Window's task manager, usually I use Ctrl-Alt-Delete but without the delete button, you have to manually mouse your way there.
I only use this in a casual couch-surfing scenario, flipping through movies with large icons, and it works great for that purpose. If you expect to use this for serious computer business or gaming, you will probably end up disappointed and/or mad, it's just not precise enough for that.
- Battery life is good (again, in a casual-use scenario), a charge usually lasts well over a week.
- Range is acceptable but not great, it starts cutting out around 15 feet from the receiver dongle.
- Can't really comment on the keyboard, it's tiny and I don't use it much.
- Installation on Windows 7 was easy.
Used in conjunction with my main PC, really 90% of it's use was just to change volume or skip songs in MusicBee, which it did excellently.
All of the sudden about 2 weeks ago the thing just couldn't hold a charge - it would ALWAYS stay on, it would never go to sleep, which I thought was strange. When I restarted it and was going to google to troubleshoot, the letter 'T' was endlessly being typed on my search bar. The hell? Unplugged my regular keyboard, still doing it... unplugged the receiver for the remote, it stopped. So THAT explained why it would never go to sleep... it's stuck typing!
I really don't know how to fix it, I've tried to see if a button is stuck but for the life of me I can't tell. As far as I know it was never dropped or damaged in any way, but who knows.
I will in all honesty probably be buying another one again soon, I've had a couple of these kinds of remotes and this one really was the best - long battery life, always snapped awake within a second when I needed it, I would have preferred a couple of programmable macro buttons, but for that feature you'll have to pay at least double what you pay here.
tl;dr Good while it lasts, hopefully the next one I get will last me more than 7 months.
Update - the manufacturer contacted me and discuss what issues I had and they will be sending me a replacement for the suspected defective remote. I will up my review to 4 stars just for the reason of them emailing me and discussing my issues with the remote and trying to resolve it. Kudos to them on their commitment for the customers and brand.
